Water is one of the fundamental elements for the correct growth of marijuana and its quality must not be neglected
Light, water and soil. A plant does not need anything else to grow green and healthy. Also marijuana, for many nutrients, fertilizers and appliances for indoor crops that exist today in the market. It does not mean that we are disregarding all the existing supplements, nor the modern machinery that helps to facilitate the task of the grower, but if we focus on that and neglect the main elements so that cannabis grows properly, we will be committing a serious mistake.
What we mainly have to analyze is the electro conductivity (EC) of water and its alkalinity. The conductivity depends on the amount of nutrients in the water, and the pH indicates the acidity. Both can be modified with other products, but we will leave it for another time.
The optimal EC levels are approximately between 0.60 and 2.00 mS, while the ideal PH is between 5.5 and 7. They are the necessary water standards for the marijuana plant to absorb nutrients properly. Otherwise, for many supplements that we add, the plant will not grow as it should.
How to know the right PH?
If you like to do the things right, just investing in tools like a PH stick tester you will get the best results. Ideal for household or laboratory use. Suitable for testing pH balance.
Is tap water good enough for marijuana plants?
For any grower, tap water is the cheapest and most hand-held liquid for hydrating a cannabis plant, but it usually has high amounts of sodium, calcium and chlorine, very harmful to the roots. Thus, if we do not have products to reduce the presence of these elements in the water, it is better to use mineral water, although its cost is higher.
If we already decide to irrigate with mineral water, we will choose a low sodium, with a balanced pH. Then, it would be advisable to increase the EC, but we would be starting with a good liquid to hydrate our marijuana plants.
